International Civil Engineering Competition (ICEC)
The International Civil Engineering Competition (ICEC) is an international competition organized annually by the International Association of Civil Engineering Students (IACES). It is aimed at civil engineering students from all over the world and offers them the opportunity to solve practical challenges from all disciplines in their field while learning from each other and making new contacts.
Structure of the competition
ICEC is divided into two phases:
1. Local Stages: University groups, known as Local Committees (LCs), organize regional competitions at their universities. Here, teams compete to master practical tasks from various areas of civil engineering. The winning team of a local stage qualifies for the final round.
2nd Final Stage: The winners of the local stages meet in the final round. During the week-long event, the teams complete three different tasks, which are assessed by experts. In addition to the competition, the program includes cultural exchange, excursions and interactive activities.
Goals of ICEC
The annual competition aims to bring together civil engineering students from different countries to exchange knowledge, gain practical experience and look beyond the boundaries of their own discipline. At the same time, ICEC serves as a platform to publicize the work of the university groups and their partners internationally and to promote cooperation.
Looking back: ICEC 2024 in Timișoara, Romania
This year's final round took place in Timișoara, Romania, and brought together nine teams from different countries. In addition to the engineering challenges, a varied supporting program was offered, including a photo treasure hunt, excursions and visits to cultural sights. This gave the participants the opportunity not only to apply their specialist knowledge, but also to get to know the city and Romanian culture better.
Participate and support
ICEC offers an exciting opportunity for students to develop their practical skills and network internationally. At the same time, the competition enables universities, companies and sponsors to contribute to the education of future engineers and support them on their career path.
