Bauma 2010

At five o'clock in the morning on April 21st, 2010, 56 motivated civil engineering students and two research assistants from the TMB were waiting for the bus to depart. The journey was to bauma 2010 in Munich, the 29th International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment. After a smooth journey, the students finally arrived at the exhibition center, which covers over 500,000 square meters of exhibition space. In groups of 20, the students spent the next two days taking part in a total of 13 interesting guided tours of the exhibition stands of Bauer, Herrenknecht, Liebherr, Putzmeister, Terex, the Wirtgen Group, Wolffkran and Zeppelin Cat, among others. After two instructive but also exhausting days, which were characterized by overwhelming impressions, the students made their way home again. Looking back, this excursion contributed greatly to illustrating the theoretical content of the lectures.

The trip to bauma 2010 was organized by IACES and the TMB. The International Association of Civil Engineering Students (IACES), Local Committee Karlsruhe, is an internationally recognized university group of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and is characterized by national and international activities (e.g. participation in several exchanges in various countries every year). The Institute for Technology and Management in Construction (TMB) is involved in teaching and research activities in all areas of mechanical construction process engineering, as well as company, personnel, project and facility management.
