Budapest
The 2018 IACES Midterm Meeting took place in Budapest. Fifty civil engineering students from 16 nations around the world traveled to the event. In addition to European students, students from Mexico, Egypt, Algeria, Sudan and Iran were also represented. One student from Karlsruhe was also present.
The core of the one-week program was the two-day assembly. During this, we held elections, welcomed new local groups, exchanged views on the various local structures and worked out concrete solutions to current organizational difficulties in workshops. During this week, we also visited construction sites in Budapest, got to know Hungarian culture and made new international friends.
The most impressive thing about the event was the community we formed. Despite all our differences, we are united by our common studies and the vision of an efficient, peaceful and environmentally friendly infrastructure. During this week, the character of IACES has become clear. A purely student-led international organization that connects civil engineers worldwide through its local chapters and broadens their horizons.
