ACCESS Lisbon

This year's ACCES took place from 29.09. to 06.10.2024 in Lisbon, a beautiful and hilly city by the sea.

With over 100 participants (around 75 students and 30 alumni) from 17 different LCs, this ACCESS was one of the biggest. The kick-off began as usual on Sunday, when most of us arrived and were greeted with an atmospheric welcome party.

On Monday, the Local Committees (LCs) introduced themselves. We were then given a tour of the university's research facilities, and in the evening we enjoyed the famous International Night. On Tuesday, the program included a UK workshop, a city tour and a treasure hunt.

Wednesday was the day of the General Assembly of Representatives (GAR), where a lot was discussed about the university group and the next General Board (GB) was elected. On Thursday, we visited the famous Tower of Belém and enjoyed a tasting of the delicious Pastel de Belém, a puff pastry with a custard filling. The day ended with the gala and a very tasty dinner in a beautiful location.

On Friday, we visited a construction site, followed by a cosy BBQ evening organized by the student council. Saturday took us to the sea, where a surfing course was offered for everyone. In the evening, we went on a boat tour and sailed under the Ponte 25 de Abril, a bridge that is very reminiscent of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and impresses with its size. Finally, it was time for the farewell party.

The event was a great opportunity to get to know people from different countries and cultures. Unfortunately, the week flew by as we experienced so much.

A big thank you to LC Lisbon and LC Porto for their hospitality and organization. Their commitment and time made the ACCESS an unforgettable experience.
