Kriegsstraße Karlsruhe

On 22.01.2020, Dipl. Ing. Roman Kühn gave us a very friendly welcome at the Züblin AG buildings.

We had the opportunity to gain an insight into the tunnel construction site in Kriegsstraße and Ludwig-Erhard-Allee. At the beginning, over coffee and pretzels, we were introduced to Züblin AG, which is carrying out the construction together with the Schleith company. We were also given an insight into the construction project. The B10 is being laid underground over a distance of 1.6 kilometers, which will, among other things, bring the north and south sides of Karlsruhe closer together.

The task of making the excavation pit watertight was particularly challenging. This was achieved with a sealing wall with inserted sheet piling for the walls and a soft gel base for the floor.

Another special feature are the installed lifting devices, which convey rainwater that collects in the tunnel over 10 m to the surface for drainage.
