LC meets LC Karlsruhe

The international “LC meets LC: Karlsruhe-Lyon-Delft” event took place in April 2023. The event was hosted by the Local Committee (LC) Karlsruhe of IACES. This weekend brought together members from three different cities, namely Karlsruhe, Lyon and Delft. The aim was to promote intercultural exchange and cooperation within the network of the International Association of Civil Engineering Students (IACES).

Friday, April 21st: Arrival and dinner in Karlsruhe
The event started with the arrival of the participants in Karlsruhe. Everyone met for a hearty dinner in the traditional German brewery “Kühler Krug”. Here, the participants made their first contacts and the anticipation of the weekend was palpable.

Saturday, April 22nd: Exploring Stuttgart
Saturday began with a German breakfast at the “Cafe Bleu” in Karlsruhe, followed by a scenic train ride to Stuttgart. In Stuttgart, an exciting city tour and the opportunity to experience the unique “Stuttgart rack railroad” awaited the participants. In the evening, everyone visited the “Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest”, a folk festival where they could enjoy German traditions and delicacies.

Sunday, April 23rd: Discovering Karlsruhe
Sunday began with a breakfast with lots of pretzels and drinks in the courtyard of the “HaDiKo”. This was followed by an exciting city and campus tour, which marked the end of the event.

The best thing about it: participation was free and LC Karlsruhe covered some of the costs, such as the train journey to Stuttgart and breakfast on Sunday. This event was a complete success and promoted cultural exchange and friendship among IACES members from different cities. It shows how enriching international cooperation and cultural exchange can be.
